Derek Jeter Sells His Massive Tampa Estate for a Record-Breaking Price
Add one more impressive stat to Derek Jeter‘s long list. The Hall of Famer has sold his massive Tampa, FL, estate for a record-breaking price.
The waterfront property floated on to the market last fall for $29 million, after reportedly serving as a luxury rental for the newly minted Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
A deal closed for around $22.5 million, according to the listing agent, Stephen Gay at Smith & Associates Real Estate.
While Gay declined to reveal any information about the buyer, he notes exactly what attracted the buyer to the property: “The size of the lot, one of the largest in Tampa on the water, as well as the quality of construction and finishes, set this home apart from all others.”
He tells us that the huge home in the Davis Islands also made waves with its final sale price.
“It is the largest residential sale ever in the entire Tampa Bay region,” he says, referring to the area including Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.
Gay adds that the Gulf Coast has been popular with buyers.
“Tampa has become a real hot spot during the pandemic,” he adds. “Our luxury market has been on fire, and that helped propel this home to the forefront.”
Built on 345 feet of open bay, it is the “largest ever assembled waterfront property on Davis Islands,” the listing noted.
The upscale enclave is located just off downtown Tampa, a quick walk, bike ride, or drive to shopping, dining, and other attractions.
Jeter purchased two adjacent lots in Tampa in 2005 and 2006, and proceeded to have a 22,000-square-foot mansion built in the style of an English manor in 2011. The walled waterfront estate on 1.25 acres provides both security and privacy.
The 1.2-acre spread is the largest residence in South Tampa, and includes seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, plus eight half-bathrooms.
With waterfront views, and nearly 9,000 square feet of lush landscaping, outdoor porches, and balconies, a dock and two boatlifts, a heated spa, and an 80-foot saltwater lap pool, the compound resembles a small resort.
You enter through double solid hardwood doors to an impressive, 24-foot foyer with floor-to-ceiling glass, overlooking the fountains, spa and pool, and bay views.
Luxe details in the custom home include hardwood millwork, hand-polished Venetian plaster, silk draperies, mosaic tiles, and on and on. Highlights include a clubroom bar full-service bar, billiards, and a sitting area, perfect for catching a game from the comfort of your compound.
The gourmet kitchen includes two islands and high-end appliances, and is set up for professionals and home cooks alike, with four dishwashers, four sinks, a warming drawer, and a walk-in pantry.
The spread includes an “owner’s retreat” with a sitting area, fireplaces, and two custom closets, and it opens to a private balcony.
Other perks include a wine cellar, in-home movie theater, professional gym, in-law suite, au pair wing with a living space and kitchen, an outdoor kitchen and grilling area, full home generator, and an air-conditioned garage for six cars.
As for the New York Yankees legend, he’s moved on to Miami, where he’s a part-owner of the Miami Marlins.
Initially, Jeter, 46, rented a luxury condo in Coconut Grove, but he has since traded that apartment for a mansion in Coral Gables, FL. He appears to have purchased the Miami-area property in 2018 for $6.5 million.
He’s grown fond of the area, and recently picked up a 2-acre waterfront lot in Coral Gables for $16.6 million. With the sale came plans to build a 20,000-square-foot home. We’re sure the sequel to St. Jetersburg will be another home run.
